That 1st rd tender is a placeholder while a multi year deal is worked out. I'd be shocked if any team is willing to part a 1st rd pick for Taysom.

The Saints want to continue with Taysom in his current role. Now if someone said a 2nd rounder ? ... different conversation & what the front office brass probably wanted to avoid. Some team with a ton of cash floating around the option of a 2nd at TH knowing that we can't match (RFA).

Can't wait for the free agency "freenzy" to begin next week :bng:.

My question is if the Saints do want him as Brees aire why the he!! would he even consider signing a long term deal at that measiiy 4.8 mil? Don't know what backup qb. money is, but probably higher than 4.8 mil. He would be getting it stuck to him signing any deal long term like that as Brees aire. If I'm him I take a little more than Bridgewater money, it's not like Bridgewater will be here.

As a restricted FA, he does not have a lot of options. and fewer now that he was tendered. Considering he made $645,000 last year, a 4 million dollar raise looks pretty good.

The $4.6 million tender amount has nothing to do with the annual salary of a long term deal. It is solely the value of a one year tender. Any deal made would eliminate the tender and will be for whatever amount is negotiated between Loomis and Hill's agent.

I am assuming it acts like the franchise tag where you have until sometime in July to negotiate a long term deal. At that point the tag terms kick in. I haven't found anything contrary to that though.

Thanks that was the answer I was after.
