Would anyone give up pick for Hill?

The Saints gave Taysom Hill a first-round tender, and Chris Simms doesn't see any team offering up that high of a draft pick and signing him to a big deal.

Might get good, might not? Surely going to see either way.

Could he still sign a long term contract with us if another team doesn’t make an offer or does the 1 year deal stick unless another team makes an offer?

A player with a tender tag can negotiate with other teams but his original team has the right to match any offer he receives from another team.

Highly unlikely that will happen, of course. Picks 27-32 are playoff teams, none in any great need of a QB. Next is the Dolphins via trade, but they have 3 first-rounders.
Jacksonville at #20 is really the only case I see it happening.

Would I take a #20 for a utility man who is set to make 4.5 million? Probably

I am assuming it acts like the franchise tag where you have until sometime in July to negotiate a long term deal. At that point the tag terms kick in. I haven't found anything contrary to that though.

The front office knows his value to the Saints. Yeah, a first round pick seems about right.

a first round tender = a $4.6 million contract
a second round tender = $3.3 million contract

Pretty much no way a team will give up a first, but maybe someone would give up a mid to late second. Probably a great move hedging that extra $1.3 million to guarantee he stays

If somebody wants to give up a first for him I’m cool with that.
