this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; The Saints gave Taysom Hill a first-round tender, and Chris Simms doesn't see any team offering up that high of a draft pick and signing him to a big deal. https://www.nbcsports.com/video/woul...hill?ls=pftvod...

Would anyone give up pick for Hill?

Might get good, might not? Surely going to see either way.

Re: Would anyone give up pick for Hill?
Could he still sign a long term contract with us if another team doesn’t make an offer or does the 1 year deal stick unless another team makes an offer?

Re: Would anyone give up pick for Hill?
A player with a tender tag can negotiate with other teams but his original team has the right to match any offer he receives from another team.

Re: Would anyone give up pick for Hill?
Highly unlikely that will happen, of course. Picks 27-32 are playoff teams, none in any great need of a QB. Next is the Dolphins via trade, but they have 3 first-rounders.
Jacksonville at #20 is really the only case I see it happening. Would I take a #20 for a utility man who is set to make 4.5 million? Probably |

I am assuming it acts like the franchise tag where you have until sometime in July to negotiate a long term deal. At that point the tag terms kick in. I haven't found anything contrary to that though.

The front office knows his value to the Saints. Yeah, a first round pick seems about right.

If somebody wants to give up a first for him I’m cool with that.
