You’ve got to know when to hold them and know when to fold them. Saints moved on when the delta between performance, value and timing made a business decision timely and in the best interest of the team. Jenkins was the best Safety available on the market ... An all in move by the Saints.

I don't believe for one second Bell turned down $23 million. If he did, he needs to fire his agent immediately.

I think he did fire his agent then signed on with the agent who demanded too much money. Talk about watching a plan back fire....

Well, it's all about how the offer was structured - maybe he wanted more guaranteed money then the Saints were willing to offer?!

The overall value or the $/year values that are thrown around rarely mean a whole lot since most contracts aren't being played out, but are cut short for one reason or another.

Yup. It is the guaranteed amount that means everything. The rest is fluff for the fans and their egos.

The present day NFL is becoming the new apprenticeship system of training for a new generation of 1st through 5th year players. The NFL is looking more and more like college teams with their similar offenses and player turnover.
