This may be the last season for New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, coach Sean Payton said Tuesday morning during an appearance on ESPN's "Get Up."
Despite agreeing to a two-year, $50 million deal earlier in March, Payton called the Saints' quarterback situation unique because "with our quarterback Drew Brees, he's announced he's coming back for his final season." The 2020 season will be Brees' 20th in the NFL and his 15th in New Orleans. Sean tells Adam Schefter today "Drew has announced he's coming back for his final season..." Now I've been out of the loop for a little bit, but this is the 1st I've heard that Drew has announced this is his final season. If this is old news, then Mods delete the thread. Re: Sean tells Schefter this is Bree's final season
Actually, even that wouldn't make sense, if he's retiring. That just means a whole lot of money being paid to someone who won't be on the team in 2021. I wonder if Sean isn't just making crap up, for the fun of it.

Re: Sean tells Schefter this is Bree's final season
There were reports that Brees told a few of the guys at the Pro Bowl that he was retiring. He decided to make one more run at it though. Ultimately, Brees could plan on retiring after this season and change his mind again. Sean Payton’s been pretty open and forthcoming with the media these last few years and I think Drew really has told them this will probably be it.

And regardless, after does Drew retire (whenever that is), he's gonna count a ton against our cap the next season. I think Loomis has been pushing that back for several seasons. |

If I wanted people to stop asking the same question over and over, Id give them any answer that would shut them up.
If it were ESPN I would make sure it was the wrong answer. |
