On offense, most Saints observers expected some breakdowns along the offensive line due to the heavy turnover of personnel and they did occur, but again mental mistakes and turnovers did the Saints in before the game was barely into the second quarter.
No matter what Saints coach Jim Haslett says publicly, he was totally disappointed in the Saints effort. And how could he not be.

Just a year ago I asked former Oakland Raiders coach and current ABC broadcaster John Madden what he looked for in preseason that would give him an indication that a team was headed in the right direction.

Madden said that winning pre-season games is not totally important, but he said that good teams always play pretty well when their first string units are in.
