Davenport is basically the same thing. When healthy, he can be a beast. So I'm okay with Clowney, but idk if we need him.

Re: Clowney to sign with Saints or Cowboys
Davenport might stay healthy if he were to split snaps with Clowney. That could give us the pressure we need come playoff time. Now that would be a monstrous edge coming after the QB!
The big question is not if we can afford him but rather who do we not spend that money on next year? We've got some big contracts to write next year to keep this core unit together. |

Re: Clowney to sign with Saints or Cowboys
Statistically speaking, the Saints ranked top 5 in terms of sacks for 2019 however we had to rely on bringing 5 guys ... 5.
You add a player of Clowney's ability to the roster, coming off the edge as he can? On a possible "prove it" deal? The guy is relatively young so he could get one more big time contract. He'd be extra motivated to play well. Jordan, Shimmy, David O, Davenport/Clowney? Yikes. Disruption = production. Yep, put me on the JD train. Win now mode ... assuming there is a 2020 season. |

I'd like Clowney in NO, however Everson Griffin is a guy who could potentially do more damage in post season.
He'll eventually have to find a new home for 2020. Maybe it's us. |

Would prefer Everdon Griffin but you add another top quality pass rusher and the Sai ts go far deeper the past couple of years. If Davenport goes down and history suggests he will then Cam cannot do it on his own. From memory the saints struggled getting pressure at critical times both post seasons.

I'm sure he'll give JC 's agent a dollar amount and move on to the next "candidate" if he wants more money. We did it with Mark Ingram, so I'm 99.9% certain they would do the same without batting an eye with Jadaveon Clowney. I'd say Dallas is more desperate to find another pass rusher. Quinn is gone (Chicago) and opposite DLawrence, they don't have much. Aldon Smith was signed there recently but he hasn't played organized football in almost 4 years + Randy Gregory can't stay off the weed . |
