Total opt outs to date are now 31 with most still being players were most likely not to make the final roster. There have been a few high risk starters, however.

The final count for opt outs is 67 of the original 2880 players on the 32 90 man rosters. That is 2.3% of total pre-cut players. Like the two TE's that opted out from the Saints over half of those players were not going to make a 53 man roster anyway. No big deal.
Any bets on how many of those 67 players end up contracting COVID-19? With all of the testing and multi-layered protocols in place in the NFL they are far more likely to pick it up elsewhere. And spread it. |
