I get that the Saints are in a win at all costs window but that's a lot of money for a 43 year old rental. Even if Brees had retired I would rather have a younger guy back there. At least Payton and Loomis are always working hard at getting talent on this team no matter the cost. It was infuriating years ago when the team looked at the sub par talent in the locker room and thought "yeah, these guys should do." and never strived for greatness. Only okay-ness. |

I believe Brees when he said that he intended to retire after last season. I just think he's made his money and wants to contribute to the game as an announcer and eventually a coach. Makes sense we may have pursued Brady for 1 year deal, but Brees returned.

What he ended up doing is asking the two questions of himself ... 1) Do I still enjoying preparing for and playing the game?, and 2) Can I still perform at a high level in the NFL?
I expect the exact same approach following this season. |

Get rid of our old QB for an older one. I don't think so. Drew still has the "IT" factor. Brady is a game manager already. One year....maybe two and he'll need a walker out there.
