2017 Ingram-Kamara was getting it done, until we abandoned that in the playoffs, nearly still won, until Payton/Allen told a rookie safety to avoid downfield contact at all costs...

The run was still set up by the pass in 2017. The same in 2009 when we were top top five run offense. Same exact type of scheme as is being run today. The run being set up by the pass and augmented by the short passing game being an extension of the run.
