New Orleans
ORT Jammal Brown has been as good as advertised in training camp. We hear that heading into April’s draft, the plan was to move OG Jermane Mayberry to right tackle. Instead, the Saints decided to trade up and take Brown with the 13th overall pick. Team observers have been impressed with Brown’s tenacity and his ability to follow through on blocks until their completion. Injuries to backup OTs Jon Stinchcomb, who suffered a season-ending knee injury, and Spencer Folau, who has yet to see the playing field while he recovers from offseason shoulder surgery, have cast an even bigger spotlight on Brown. So has head coach Jim Haslett’s desire to change the Saints’ offensive philosophy from relying on QB Aaron Brooks’ strong throwing arm to putting the emphasis on a power-running attack with RB Deuce McAllister. New Orleans’ 37-27 win over New England in the second preseason game gave some credence to this redesigned offense, as Brown helped clear the way for McAllister to rush for 88 yards on 22 carries. |

We must run the ball this year....ALOT.
We'll have 3 runningbacks......4, really, including Fred McAfee. RUN RUN RUN. Our defense being off the field can be a good thing. |

The running game certainly needs to be effective. But does that mean that you do not take advantage of the opportunities that come up after you've pounded the ball for awhile in a game? Is play action going to be a dead issue for this Saints' team? Inquiring minds what to know! SFIAH |
