With arguably one of the top O lines in the league....he simply won’t commit to the run game for 60 minutes, hell for even a half.
Yup, unfortunately this team is controlled by Paytons ego. If he wants to give up on the run and put the ball in the air, that's what's going to happen. Even if the Raiders couldn't stop the run.

His ego will doom this team this year. Take what the defense gives you. Don’t force stuff just cause you think you won’t be heralded as a offensive genius no more

Precisely, in years past, getting away from the run wasnt ideal but we got by because the offense was so dangerous and could explode for a big play at any time.

That ain't happening anymore unless Taysom comes in.

I agree, he’s stuck in yesteryear. When we went to a ball control offense it worked really well with Teddy. He needs to do that with Drew. I know it’s not flashy but it works and that’s what matters. Possess the ball for long drives, wear down their defense, while keeping ours fresh. Is a recipe for success.

Agreed..., but I recall my personal friends, yes me also lol, complained about Teddy TG’s inability to push the ball vertically also. Fair or not, the same criticisms leveled now against both the scheme and QB#9 were thrown at that five game spat DB#9 was out.

Difference between then and now, imho, is the team came together and played lights out football. It was very good team play at that time that carried the day..., not the scheme..., and not the QB. The team, as a whole, just refused to quit. Good “team” then, very good, imvho.

As both should be criticized since it isn’t working but at least when teddy did throw long our receivers didn’t have to stop and wait for the ball that was coming pony express from Drew. Was it the strongest no but had more zip on it than Drew.

It looks like the Saints bought into their hype. They don't have the advantage because we don't have that killer attitude.

Re: Saints vs Packers

Does anyone here realize that we are only two games into a season with no off-season activities at all and having lost our top offensive weapon for a couple of games and still up one full game in our division?

Then again, I can go back to our post second game threads from the past three years and read the same sort of doom and gloom posts as I see above and by many of the same members. I said the same thing back then that I'm saying now.

Just relax and wait and see. We'll challenge for the #1 seed after winning our forth straight NFC South title. The defense will gel. The offense will click.

I'm still optimistic but we sure don't look like contenders on the field.

And how large a sample have we seen? You can expect the first several games by all teams to be basically preseason even more than the last few years with the practice cutbacks via the CBA's. How many others games have you seen? I've seen much of most. There's not many teams looking like contenders yet.
