Re: USA Today Saints Wire | 5 bold trade deadline scenarios for the Saints
I'd love to have Harrison Smith or McDougald on the back end. If this truly is Brees last season, why not help him out by adding a play maker at safety ?
Saints could also better DEPTH as CB. Jets Brian Poole is a talented corner who could help us. |

Are they any better than the talent we have? If it’s truly a lot of miscommunication then it doesn’t matter whose back there, could even make it worse.

I’d be happy to see any of those trades come to pass. I just don’t see the talent evaluation metrics assigned to Rankins, Anzalone, or Williams anywhere near as high as what those trades might suggest. Bottom line..., I’m not sure most teams would consider those players as improvements. It’s possible that a desperate, on the playoff bubble team, might make a trade, but I doubt it.

You can put a talented player in DA's system and history has shown that he will regress. Our secondary has had good players but bad communication or scheme problems have made them look like chickens running around with their heads cut off. Save the draft picks and let Ireland bring in some more gems. He has an eye for talent.
Oh, and find a new DC while your looking at talent around the league. |
