I'm not encouraged by the lack of response.

I'm here and I'm sure there are more around. Most people don't know exactly how bad it is. New Orleans and the Gulf Coast area will need to be completely rebuilt.
Right now my family is missing in Covington. 20 children and adults that make up my brothers, sisters, parents, in-laws, nieces and nephews fled there to escape the storm and found they were on the immediate west side of the eye and according to reports there are thousand, state police said "MILLIONS," of trees that are everywhere and tons of debris. I have not heard a word from them. We will probably have to charter a helicopter to that area tomorrow to determine if anyone has survived. Please pray for survivors. If you want to help goto redcross.org and donate as much as you can to the effort. The facts have not been set forth but in the coming days it will be known that the death toll may be very high and it will take the resolve of the state and the entire country to help raise this city and area again. |

Monroe/West Monroe is filled with evacutees/refugees. My wife works for a local private catholic school who has fielded many, many calls from parents from south La wanting to enroll their kids so they wont miss school time. Those parents seem to think this is going to be several months before things begin to reasonably straighten out.

I still haven't heard from my family members in Houma/New Orleans. I am a police officer here and I was going to ask if I could go down to assit NOPD and the rescue efforts, but my wife is in the Air Guard and just got placed on standby to go and assist with the rescue and recovery operations. They say she may be leaving as early as tomorrow morning. I have to stay here in Idaho and be with my 2 kids. God bless all of the victims and families devestated by this disaster. God bless all of you guys too. If you guys have room in your prayers, can you say a prayer for my family and for my wife who will be down there helping yall.
