San Antonio Claiming Saints
I was listening to a talk show on the AM dial tonight. I believe it was 1200 AM, though I'm not sure. They mentioned that the station was broadcasting the Saints game and claimed ownership to the fans of San Antonio. "We'll be broadcasing YOUR Saints game..." Yes, they actually put the emphasis on YOUR. This is starting to make me sick.

Don't read too much into this, LA will get a new team before San Antonio does and the Saint's won't move for at least 2 more seasons, remember we made the payment this year so they would not be able to legally move until after the 2006 season.

RE: San Antonio Claiming Saints
Still, it bothers me that San Antonio radio stations are making money off of New Orleans' team. They're selling spots during the game to local business...an opportunity they would have never thought of barring Hurricane Katrina. They're making money off of our misfortune.

Be careful for what you say. You might have a native San Antonio (saintwhodi) making some pee brain remarks bout San Antonio helping his family from NO and they deserve NFL franchise.

No I don't have a problem with the Saints playing there, I mean give them some love they took in residence of NO with out batting an eye even before the Saints became an issue. They opened the doors and didn't think twice.
Maybe even get some new fans from that area of the world. |

I think you mean Houston didn't think twice. Houston's community are the biggest hero. They took in more than anyone would've expected. San Antonio did their part also but I think they also had an agenda. I don't have a problem with them playing their either but I will not be cheering for a San Antonio Saints.

I think S.A. is trying their darnedest to whoo Benson. Benson knows he would be excommunicated out of Louisiana if he does this. I think Whodi is taking the S.A. bashing too personal. The people behind this "Pitch" for the Saints is now trying to see what the feelings are from the general public, and if they would feel like vultures in the process of stealing the Saints from N.O. Red McCombs is not the only person behind this.

RE: San Antonio Claiming Saints
I believe that all this fuss created by McCombs and officials in S.A. are just a way of scoping the interest in the city for an NFL team. I believe that Saints will stay in NO but that Jaguars for example would be in a risk of getting bought or moved.

RE: San Antonio Claiming Saints
I still think most of you are missing one of the points I was trying to make. Radio stations in San Antonio are making profit off of the New Orleans Saints.
No doubt, they've helped out evacuees who fled Hurricane Katrina. But, is that a valid excuse for them to make money off of our football team? I could understand if part of their profits would reach back to the Saints in SOME sort of way, but they don't. If San Antonio wanted to broadcast Saints games any other time, I wouldn't mind. I wouldn't mind even if the Saints didn't see a penny from the stations there. However, when you take someone in after a natural disaster it should be common courtesy NOT to make a profit off of them. It seems San Antonio is only sheltering the Saints so they can make money off of them. |

RE: San Antonio Claiming Saints
I'm going to add an example to further my point.
Lets say Michael Jordan's (yes, THE Michael Jordan) house was bombed by crazed fans trying to kill him. You live around the area and decide to let him stay in your house so that no one will know where he's living. A couple of your personal friends find out about this situation and tell some friends of their own that they'll give them the chance to see Michael Jordan in person if they'll pay $100. So, naturally people pay your friends $100 to come to your own house and see Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan obviously gets no money out of the deal. This is whats going on with the Saints. |
