CUTS
News
The Saints released 10 players over the weekend, but the news has traveled slowly due to Hurricane Katrina. Among the players released was quarterback Kliff Kingsbury, who had been competing with rookie Adrian McPherson for the third quarterback job. Tuesday's Baton Rouge Advocate reports that the other players cut were offensive linemen Spencer Folau, Brandon Phillips, and Nick Steits, punter Rodney Williams, defensive tackle Jason Jefferson, cornerback Dwight Ellick, kicker Nate Fikse, linebackers Cie Grant and Roger Knight, and wide receiver Thyron Anderson. Views The biggest surprise in this group would have to be Folau, who started 20 games over the last three seasons. The Saints still have 19 players to cut before the deadline on Sunday. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...ball&type=lgns |

Thx re: cuts info. Even NewOrleansSaints.com does not have the info' - yet.
Looks like Slaughter is in for Knight. Folau will be diappointed, and Cie Grant has fallen. I like raw McPherson over Kingsbury. A thought.. The news is very bad in New Orleans. I cannot see how a game can start when the poor city is under water, mud, etc. The city infrastructure has crumbled with no obvious date of reconstruction. Worse is the human loss. I am very sorry for the native Nawlins amongst the blackandgold membership, but there is a huge possibility that the city cannot return for some time. For the team that means perhaps out of state San Antonio (cue the obvious connections). Temporary name San Antonio Storm perhaps in rememberance of those who have taken their last journey? |
