If Drew comes back in a couple of weeks, he's getting some new tech medical assistance. Maybe he is. But I doubt it. Let him completely heal, about 4 to 6 weeks.
A quick bit of research research shows that pain from a broken sternum is very debilitating and can last for months. Rib pain is apparently not as severe and can easily be relieved by injections. Bet that was a ***** living with. Sounds difficult. It said that just using your arms brings on severe pain. Argh.

And, yes, you can expect Brees would have access to a hyperbaric chamber and bone stimulators and such that our insurance doesn't cover.

Oh, and don't forget, Brees was already playing with broken ribs coming into the 49er's game.

The problem with injections when you are dealing with a rib issue is that it can relieve pain to the point you can’t feel it if it gets worse which could result in another punctured lung. Since he was playing with broken ribs he sustained in Tampa I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t what happened.
I’ve broken several ribs on several occasions and it sucks big time. You can’t take a **** without severe pain and since pain medicine stops you up it’s a no win situation.

The rib injury from the Tampa game was all on the left side. The 49er's injury was all on the right side. They were unrelated. Just bad luck.
