Question What if?

Happy New Year 2021 to all on this a here Black and Gold Forum!!!!

Just curious...what happens if we lose and Seattle wins? We drop to the third seed in the NFC but still get to host an opening round playoff game and Seattle takes the #2 seed

So we are not locked in at the #2 seed as of now because we can be supplanted by Seattle if they win and we lose? I guess my concern would be this...Would we draw a "tougher" opponent as the 3rd seed after we win the home playoff game than if we finish with the 2nd seed?

All these various possible playoff scenarios rattling and rolling around in my melon based on possible results

That's correct. The only way the Saints retains the #2 seed with a loss to Carolina is if Seattle also loses.

As of this moment, each of the Saints, Packers, and Seahawks can get the #1, #2, or #3 seed. Both the Packers and the Saints can guarantee #2 (and the Packers #1) with a win. Seattle can still get the #3 seed even if they win.
I guess my concern would be this...Would we draw a "tougher" opponent as the 3rd seed after we win the home playoff game than if we finish with the 2nd seed?
I think at this point the differences between the #6 and #7 seed is marginal between the Cardinals, Bears, and Rams in the first round.

The true differences between the #2 and #3 seed are that the #3 seed will likely have to travel for the 2nd round playoff game and that there is a much diminished chance of hosting the NFC Championship in the 3rd round.

It's simple. Saints win on Sunday and they cannot be the #3 seed no matter what else happens.

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

Re: What if?

With the unfortunate events unfolding with Alvin and Covid, better defeat the Panthers and become huge cheerleaders for Seattle and Chicago on Sunday.

We could really use that BYE week now.

Re: What if?

That's debatable. Of course the #1 seed would be ideal. But the #2 is likely going to be the Bears. Just last year, The TayTrain ran for 120 against the Bears.

Going into the playoffs without Kamara is suboptimal to be sure. But I think that throwing oneself off the building like it's the stock market crash may be a bit premature.

That we absolutely need the #1 seed or the season is lost. There's no reason to believe that the Saints cannot prevail against any of the Rams, Cardinals, or Bears in a wildcard without Kamara.

The throwing off the building is the reaction I'm seeing in postings about Kamara being unavailable. That somehow the season is going to be lost.

The Saints have muddled through a ton of unavailability this season. Even having Kamara out for playoff game isn't going to derail the train.

Trubisky has been playing pretty good recently. He's averaged a 107.65 QB rating the past four weeks, completing 72.4% of his attempts, and scoring over 30 points (30, 36, 33, 41). Rodgers is also missing his All Pro LT. And, they will be playing in Chicago. The Bears' David Montgomery has had well over 100 yards from scrimmage each of the past five games and has scored seven of his nine TD's over that stretch.
