C'mon, it's been Payton-Brees since '06; it'll be about Sean and QB to be named...

Fix the fumbling, Taysom looked pretty darn good for a guy who was a rookie QB and hadn't taken game snaps in several years...

Taysom has the arm strength and the wheels and the toughness and the charisma to get the team back to being a legit threat...

And because Sean said so...

IDK JP,

Golden Boy was only a 55% completion QB in the post season. I give more credit to Todd Bowles defense creating opportunities for the offense to score vs Saints (3 picks off Brees that led to 21 points) and Green Bay (Brady had 3 picks all in 2nd half). BTW Brady is the first QB to throw 3 INTS in a CHAMPIONSHIP round and win.

If someone else signs Jameis in Free Agency, the Saints definitely need a strong Plan B @ QB. IMO Taysom is a great gadget player but not a full time QB. Hopefully we draft one this season.

Who knows, SP could bring in Gardner Minshew to compete .

IMO we need a bridge/veteran QB in 2021.

For the right price i would be fully on board with that.
He has looked pretty damn good with the lack of talent around him, seems pretty safe with the ball and has 2 years left on his cheap rookie deal.

From Flowood Mississippi ...

Does the facial hair give him an advantage?

College career
Minshew began his college football career in 2015 at Northwest Mississippi Community College. He led the team to the NJCAA National Football Championship, passing for 3,228 yards with a 60.8% completion percentage.[5]

Minshew transferred to East Carolina University in 2016, where he played in seven games with two starts at QB for the Pirates. In 2017, he split time with Duke University transfer Thomas Sirk as East Carolina's quarterback. Minshew began to show his talents late in the season by passing for over 350 yards in 3 consecutive games (463 yards and 3 touchdowns against Houston, 444 yards and 4 touchdowns against Cincinnati, and 351 yards against Memphis). Minshew finished the year with 2,140 yards passing and 16 touchdowns for the Pirates, and received his bachelor's degree in December 2017.[5]

In the fall of 2018, Minshew enrolled as a graduate student at Washington State. He became immediately eligible under the NCAA's graduate transfer rules. Minshew helped lead Washington State to a school-record 11 wins in 2018. In his third game as the school's starting quarterback, he passed for a career-high 470 yards and a school-record 78.9% completion rate in a 59–24 victory over Eastern Washington. On November 17, he threw for 473 passing yards and broke another school record with seven passing touchdowns against Arizona.[6] At the end of the 2018 season, Minshew led the FBS in pass completions (433), pass attempts (613), passing yards per game (367.6), was second in passing yards (4,477) and finished in the top five in touchdowns (38).[7] During Washington State's Alamo Bowl win over Iowa State, Minshew claimed the Pac-12 single season record for most passing yards, a record previously held by Jared Goff.[8]

Minshew was awarded the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award as the nation's top senior- or fourth-year quarterback.[9] He was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year for 2018, joining Rueben Mayes (1984 and 1985), Steve Broussard (1989), Drew Bledsoe (1992), Ryan Leaf (1997), and Jason Gesser (2002) as the only Washington State players to win the award since it began in 1975.[10] Minshew finished fifth in voting for the Heisman Trophy, becoming the ninth player in Washington State history to place in the top 10 for the award, and the highest WSU finisher since Ryan Leaf, who was third in Heisman voting in 1997.[11]

Godwin had a case of the drops; and Tom threw the ball away more than Brees, but Brady made the throws that counted...

Totally agree that Bowles defense was not the one it was in the regular season, though that Green Bay game was telling which leads to a theory of mine -

Good not Great defenses and their DCs have five~six great games in them and you gotta pick your spots to show it all, and Tampa Bay picked the Pack and saved the others for the Tournament...

If you look at your NFL history, other than Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, most great QBs need a year of playing to blossom - Taysom has had only four starts, and those were after several year layoff from college...

That's why I'm not ready to throw in the towel on Taysom just yet...

But the bigger point is this - Arians let Jameis go and went after Tom - and that is very telling and should not be ignored...

And Arians has coached some of the best QBs in this generation and definitely saw something in Winston he didn't like...

There was a lot going on in that Bucs locker room. Winston wasn’t the player needed to lead the team, imho Winston leaving had less to do with talent and more about maturity/leadership. That being said, I’m not willing to give up on Hill either. He made some very nice throws..., but some very bad ones also, lol, and I mean Tebow bad, lol. As far as young pups at QB goes, there are a few that defy the “teach em up” requirement. That kid out in Chargers land, the young Herbert, has the stuff, right out the gate. He’s a keeper.

Didn't see bad throws so much as he needs to fix his handles on the ball...

IGNORE THIS

And Arians has coached some of the best QBs in this generation

Peyton Manning

While most of us remember Arians serving as the interim head coach of the Indianapolis Colts in 2012, he once served as the team’s quarterbacks coach from 1998-2000, Peyton Manning’s first three seasons in the league. Manning wound up making the Pro Bowl in 1999 and 2000 and was the league leader in passing yards in 2000 with 4,413, but his rookie year was a forgettable one as he threw for 26 touchdowns and 28 interceptions, his career high. Manning threw some friendly shade at Arians the other month, saying the Bucs coach needs to take some responsibility for those picks.

Andrew Luck

Arians served as both offensive coordinator and interim head coach of the Colts in 2012, Andrew Luck’s rookie year. The Colts were coming off a 2-14 season, but thanks to Arians they finished 11-5 and made the playoffs. Luck made the Pro Bowl that year after throwing for 23 touchdowns and 18 interceptions, his career high.

Carson Palmer

In his first season as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, Arians led the team to a 10-6 record and helped resurrect the career of Carson Palmer, who was coming off two disappointing years with the Oakland Raiders. Palmer threw for 4,274 yards to go along with 24 touchdowns and a career-high 22 interceptions.

Jameis Winston

5,000 yards in a season, but also became the first player ever to throw 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in the same year. While his 30 picks weren’t even the most in franchise history, (beginning to notice a trend here?)

Did it the "RIGHT WAY"

"Your worst enemy, he reflected, was your own nervous system. At any moment the tension inside you was liable to translate itself into some visible symptom." Winston Smith
