But as usual we aren't big players in the first wave of free agency.

We get a lot of productive players from the second tier who are up and comers or just needing a fresh start. As usual we fill the positions needed in free agency and then draft the best BPA or BPA at a position of need. We not in a rebuild but we need rookies with cheap contracts to get this team back in contention.

I feel you on that but we cleared all this money for Watson. He didn’t come, so use it. For offensive free agents to come here with Payton gone and a defensive minded head coach you might have to spend a lil more for a guy to come here. That luxury of playing for SP is gone. But I’m just a home GM, lol

Well, I agree with the thought. The bright side is any unused money will roll over to help next year.

I really doubt we're done spending for this year. OK, so we didn't land the flash free agents, we also didn't give up a zillion draft picks or overpay for one. There's still a ton of time to make smart, realistic FA moves and there's always trade possibilities later on.

I think we’re done. Given Dennis Allen’s recent comments about building through the draft, and Nick Underhill’s assertion that the Saints want to clean up their salary cap situation, we seem to be accepting the need to lay low. Deshaun Watson was our last big “kick the can down the road” attempt and with that falling through… we’re going to start playing it more conservative.

The drama of #TheDecision2 (Deshaun Watson Fiasco) delayed all the Saints Free Agency efforts...

We had to have a starting QB signed so we could then sign WRz and take advantage for some real good deals at WRz (e.g. D.J. Chark/1 year/$12M)...

Instead, Loomis and sidekick didn't get Winston done till Wave 3 of Free Agency, so we were really far behind in getting a WRz...

Agree with Chris, remaining cap room will be used to extend some players (e.g. Davenport, Gardner) and/or gain some cap relief for next year; and leave some for the rookie pool...

To really take this solid roster to another level, we're going to need to hit on two really good offensive linemen (Day 1, 2) and two wide receivers (Day 2,3) that can contribute immediately...

Done in Free agency? I hope not.

As Lord eluded to earlier, you'll have to either slightly overpay @ WR, OL & TE or go into 2022 with the same suspect group of characters.

The Rams have somewhat changed the game in Free Agency vs the draft and the payoff was a Lombardi trophy.

I'm all for "building through the draft", however, there is nothing wrong with slightly overpaying a proven (Landry, Collins, Mathieu, or whatever) NFL commodity.

At this point, I wouldn't rule out trading for a player. You'll need a solid #2 opposite MT in case he goes down again.

If Dennis is serious about contending in 2022, you must get weapons. The likes of Trequan, Vannett, and Trautman ain't good enough.

Happy Saturday & I'm off to ride the motorcycle, the weather is incredible today :bng:

We’re going in with the same group of characters + whomever we add in the draft. Most people aren’t going to want to admit it, but we are in a rebuild and kicking the can down the road did hurt our roster. Armstead counts for $13 million in dead cap this year and Drew Brees still costs $11.5 million in dead money. Get ready for a down year.

Idk why you guys are so worried about WR. Um hellllllooo. We signed 3quan! Might as well trade Can't Call Mike. We have everything we need for a championship run!

I hope we aren’t in a rebuild, Chris. Demario and Cam aren’t getting any younger. And, I really want them to at least get to the bowl before it’s all said and done.
