Weakest Position on Team

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Voted DT, but not happy at the DE position, Grant is obsolete in most games and doesnt warrant the money he gets.....

Re: Weakest Position on Team

Voted K because of the Carney/Hartley confusion. Rest of the team has areas where we could improve, but no weak links.

Re: Weakest Position on Team

I voted DE, but could have voted DT just as easily. OT isn't looking so hot either, especially if Brown doesn't return.

In order

1. DE
2. DT
3. LT
4. OC
5. WLB
6. SLB
7. FS
8. K
9. P
10. FB
11. SS
12. RB

why do you think we need DEs?

will smith has 8.5 sacks which is tied for 5th most in the league with robert mathis who is arguably the most complete DE in the league

charles grant is tied with justin tuck and joey porter with 4.5 sacks

combined they have 56 tackles(28 each) 13 sacks and 4 turnovers in 10 games

they are playing pretty well for all the hate they were getting earlier......

and you have them as your biggest need?

why?

The same question could be directed at you for why OC is our biggest need when Goodwin has done a pretty damn good job.

Re: Weakest Position on Team

All names we know at the bottom of 1 and the top of 2

Marvin Austin*, North Carolina
Height: 6-3. Weight: 305.
Projected 40 Time: 4.88

Arthur Jones, Syracuse DT/DE 34
Height: 6-4. Weight: 294.
Projected 40 Time: 5.06

Vince Oghobaase, Duke
Height: 6-6. Weight: 310.
Projected 40 Time: 5.11

Boo Robinson, Wake Forest
Height: 6-2. Weight: 326.
Projected 40 Time: 5.22

The riser this year and leap frogging some if not all of these DT is

Dan Williams, Tennessee
Height: 6-3. Weight: 311.
Projected 40 Time: 5.20

If this kid comes out he maybe the steal at DT/DE in the draft

Lawrence Marsh*, Florida
Height: 6-5. Weight: 305.
Projected 40 Time: 4.87

Williams has a history of going after big DTs with speed.

goodwin is playing well in between 2 of the best guards in the league

all he has to do is not screw up big time and evans and nicks can usually make him look good

goodwin hasnt gotten better all of a sudden.....but he does have one thing he didnt have the past couple seasons.....a top 10 LG on the other side of a top 3 RG

goodwin is great for depth but seeing as tho its still the easiest position on offense to upgrade and probably our biggest need on offense, i find it easier to explain why OC is our biggest need as opposed to DE

and beyond that.....i know why i want a center.....i dont know why he wanted a DE so bad
