Why aren't we running the ball?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; We have some great running backs, and even with a lead in the 3rd quarter we continue to throw the ball with suspect pass protection...why haven't we started to pound the rock?...

Because our Running Game Coordinator hasn't had time to Running Game Coordinate since he has been too busy being Head Coach, Assistant Head Coach and Water Boy, and whoever else Goodell suspended that we couldn't hire new people for.

Because our O line cannot block and create holes for our backs to run through.

Re: Why aren't we running the ball?

We're averaging over 5 yards a carry on the year. Our line doesn't have any issue run blocking... we just have no identity and idea what we want to do from week to week.

Re: Why aren't we running the ball?

If we actually wanted to start running the ball we should've kept Bush and actually used him like he was supposed to be used.

We still could've signed Sproles to have 2 playmakers on the team. But we are mainly a passing team, and that's the offense we run. We have a cerebral QB in Drew Brees, and once he gets his **** together we will be successful.

Today's game was a nice start for Brees, we ran more than usual today, and mostly only because we were up so much. And do you see what happens when we let up on the gas peddle? It bites us in the ass because we relied on a suspect defense to seal the game for us instead of putting it into Brees' hands like it's supposed to be.

The moment when we let up on the gas pedal was down to brees and the offense

24-6, 2nd down and 9, dumbass throw to Henderson gets picked
Chiefs score 3
Then we go 3 and out straight away
91 yard run by Charles

The defense stopped the chiefs 3 times in the first quarter alone, we scored once in 3 of those attempts, punted the rest

WTF? Dude- in the 2nd half we had 7 possessions and 5 of them we ran on first down.

What is up with Mark Ingram? Is it just me or is he a bust?

He's a bust.... trade him for a few defensive players and a bucket of chicken, while folks still think he's worth it.

And then we go shotgun on our 9 yard line and give up a safety
