The problem with Ingram is that it looks like he's the type of back that needs consistent carries to get in rhythm and develop. While he may or may not become a very good back, I don't think we'll ever get the chance to find out in the type of system we run barring injuries. I'm not comparing his talents to Deuce McAllister but... remember how he use to just grind out ten 3-4 yard runs and then just break one for 30-40 yards? Ingram is a 20+ carry back... just not here, not now.
Bush had the same problem at first. He finally learned somewhat, to follow his lineman, but then he would out run their protection.

Ingram, our D-Line, and our Line Backers... All have a problem not having patience.

Good backs but their hand on the back of a lineman or FB and follow a step or two until something develops. Reggie and Ingram run right up a mans azz.

Anyone watch Rice last night? Seen Foster run? You have to let your line make a hole..

Ivory just flat our parts the sea with his helmet.. Then churns his legs anyway he can to push through.

Yeah your not wrong

In chat during the game last week i pointed out one particular Ingram run

He took the handoff, looks like the play was designed to go up the gut, grubbs and DLP both had their men, Ingram turned his shoulder and ran into them BACKWARDS!!! then just fell over, my god it was embarrassing to watch

When Arian Foster runs, everything is so split second, smooth transition and one cut burst through the gap. If the gap isnt there, foster has patience and knows a hole will open, ingram doesn't take that chance and fights for a two yard gain - say hello to another 3 AND OUT!!!

Yes, exactly. The guy has either no patience or too much patience. I see him run right into his linemen, and other times he just kind of shuffles his feet in the backfield hoping for something to open up. That's a classic case of a guy who just doesn't have it. He does one thing and then over-compensates when the coaches tell him what he's doing wrong.

Anyone remember Ron Dayne? What you do in college doesn't mean jack in the NFL unless you prove otherwise.

I'd rather trade ingram, that's just me. He might be good, but we could get something for him, Ivory would not get us anything on a trade

I predict we'll trade Ingram in a year or two and just like Reggie; he'll go excel in a different offense. Ingram just doesn't fit our offense... Let's face it, it was a bad draft pick. Mark is a bell cow back who needs carries to get into a groove. No disrespect to Payton and Loomis, we absolutely needed a RB in that year's draft, but why would you trade up to get a bell cow back when you don't have a "ground and pound" offense?! Ingram will continue to put up mediocre numbers until we trade him and then he'll go be successful elsewhere.

I think if we go to 0-4 then we will see more cadet. It's a perfect opportunity to get guys we have on the bench into more real action without really having to worry about our W-L record.

For a 1st round draft pick vs. a undrafted free agent and comparing their performances, it's black and white to me Ivory is better, now I wonder what it would look like with both of them in the backfield togather for some smash football and let PT and Sproles play after the D is wore down?
