That's another consideration; though salary cap does demand that all acquisitions contribute as teams can only afford what the league market will bear, so maybe an Aaron Rodgers could sit and develop, but other draft picks in a team's selection would have to man up soon or live on waivers...

NFL.com Draft Grades

BEST PICK: Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon State
New Orleans Saints, Round 1, No. 20 overall

Sean Payton is arguably the league's top play-caller, with a knack for putting his best offensive weapons in position to hit home runs. Cooks is a polished pass catcher with explosive speed, quickness and burst. While some miscast Cooks as strictly a slot receiver, the 2013 Biletnikoff Award winner (given to the top college receiver) is a versatile player with the skills to wreak havoc from any spot on the field.

Shouldn't we be able to grade the draft graders? I'll give Bucky a C+.

BTW, the mock draft scores are totaled

Intersting to note, of the mainstream guys

Kiper tied for 23rd
Mayock tied for 47th
Rang tied for 47th
McShay tied for 56th

The 5-year averages...
Kiper 6th
Mayock 35th
Rang 35th

Looking at the scores, Kiper is trending...down...

Jason Boris has been outstanding, except for this year which most sucked as this was a crazy, deep draft...

Re: 2014 NFL Draft

In taking a closer look at Brandin Cooks, he is what I thought the Saints should have done with Reggie Bush - a playmaker in space...

Reggie proved in Miami he could run between the tackles - though he got nicked up fast...

Cooks is also the smallest guy we've had on offense - not in height, but smaller in terms of weight, build than Sproles which is of great concern especially having spent a first and third round pick on the guy...

Bush was not durable. we will have to wait and see with Cook. if he is it should be a great move.
