2014 NFL Draft
Thought I'd start this discussion now...
not because in no way shape or form is this season done because of the two clunckers in the past three weeks against NFC West foes that have physically whooped us... But while game play is still on...we can have a fresher look at the team as opposed till waiting for the offseason... We've seen with the defense how getting younger players can make a huge difference rather than running out "trusted" veterans for another year... |
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
All of the above.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft
This is a first attempt to mock what I'd like to see our draft look like if we finish as projected...
R1 OT Antonio Richardson, Tennessee, 6-6/330 R2 LB Telvin Smith, Florida State, 6-2/224 R3 LB Jeremiah Attaochu, Georgia Tech, 6-3/242 R4 OL Gabe Jackson, Mississippi State, 6-3/340 R5 CB Antone Exum, Virginia Tech, 6-0/220 R6 RB Roderick McDowell, Clemson, 5-9/200 R7 Traded for Parys Haralson to 49ers for 2014 conditional seventh round pick ...I'd like to see us get younger, faster, stronger, cap-friendlier... |
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Guess I should have put Kicker on the poll, but we all know that would get checked after today!?!
|
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
In no particular order and I have no idea who I'd draft, but: Tackle, ILB, OLB, Center, and perhaps Free Safety...

BPA would be my choice.

LT then OLB then OC then WR

Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Maybe we should draft another offensive tackle for depth reasons, but I don't think we need to draft one in the early rounds. We literally just drafted a left tackle last year that has a silly amount of upside. (Terron Armstead)
We should move forward with him imo. What I think would be perfect is if Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix was still available when it is our time to choose our first round pick. I'm not sure how realistic it is to have him still available at the near-end of the first round though. If Clinton-Dix is still available, I want to see us go: FS, ILB/OLB, OC. If he isn't, then I think we should go: OLB, ILB, OC. |
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
LT then CB then FS
|
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Let's trade up for Jake Matthews if possible

If it wouldn't cost us so much, I would love to draft a guy who's bloodlines are as good as they get in the NFL... |
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
The blood lines between Nick Toon and his father aren't very strong, but Matthews looks legit.
|
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Toon was taken off the showroom floor rather quickly. I thought we might see him again but I doubt he is on this team next season to be honest.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft
ok where did i put that dam thing. brb i need to drag something to the post
:deadhorse2: There now that i have all my props 1) Cap issues are best addressed thru the draft. Trade out of round one, which given our latest road show is looking to be worth more, for additional picks in round 2 and 3 2) trade players from areas of depth for more picks and/or players you target in FA in 2015. always best to get them in that final year if you can 3) let fan fav walk in FA if you have too Vacarro has not shown himself to be a TRUE FS. What he looks to be is a modern day SS. like Jenkins. we do not have a ball hawking hard hitting FS on this team I am waiting for the declare list but right now i am once again wishing for multi picks on day two of the draft |
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
A starting caliber ILB, a starting caliber FS, I think V is going to make the best SS in the league but we need a ball hawk in the backfield. O-line needs road graders that can protect during the pass and muscle up in the run. Only if a great D player is in the 1st, I also would not mind trading our 1st for more 2nd round picks. I also would not mind another DT to go along with J. Jenkins in the later rounds, might get real lucky. We will need help moving forward in the 3-4.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft
What's up w/T.Armestead??? I have heard nothing good OR bad?
|
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Cyril Richardson, OT/G, Baylor
still think he might pull of being a RT in the NFL. if not development replacement for the OG. Zack Martin, G/OT, Notre Dame not the size you want but the kid can block Corey Robinson*, OT, South Carolina size and athleticism to work with Morgan Moses, OT, Virginia my Mr. Under rated for the 2014 draft Cameron Fleming*, OT, Stanford sound all the way around. but you might get what you see. upside? Wesley Johnson, OT, Vanderbilt plug and play player all up and down the line. always need these types moving up in round 1 is not an option in my book |

Time to get acquainted with this years draft.

I know Oregon may have lit the scoreboard up against Virginia, but ask those pass rushers how they felt after that game against him... He's only had one year at Left Tackle which may put him around Round 3; a little higher depending on Combine and Senior Bowl Performances... Would love to have a guy name Moses "parting the defense" for our running backs - hey, this schiott writes itself... Matthews is the only guy I'd move up to get and that will cost to much... |
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Want a Safety in the second round?
Deone Bucannon, S, Washington State, 6-1/215 Ball-freakin-Hawk And don't forget, Jarius Byrd is coming onto the market, will want to win as well as get paid, and we'll probably be parting ways with BOTH Harper and Jenkins... |
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Should we resign Graham. He will be asking for a lot of money and he is pretty inconsistent. 2 catches for 25 yards isn't a lot but 14 TD's is, I'm very mixed over the subject, I'd love to have him back but at the right price.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft
I'd like a stud FS too, but speed at LB and LT are bigger priorities to me, even OC
|
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Well, Armstead needs to see the field, too
But there's two LB's I mocked that would demonstrate what you're talkin' about... |
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Dont look for Harper to go anywhere unless we find someone that wants to trade for him.
|
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Your poll doesn't stipulate RT or LT, as well as FS or SS.
Those are 4 very different positions. |
