Sean Payton mum on Rob Ryan's future

1 Attachment(s)
New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan doesn't seem like he's cleared his office out like his brother Rex Ryan had done in New York as of midday Monday.

Ryan walked into the Saints' locker room shortly before an 11 a.m. team meeting in a yellow button-down shirt with a sheet of paper in his hand. He greeted defensive tackle Tyrunn Walker with a handshake followed by a "bro" hug.

Sean Payton's Monday press conference to wrap up the 2014 season occurred more than an hour later, so it was a pretty safe bet that Payton didn't fire Ryan during that span.

Payton, however, still managed to cut off any questions about Ryan's future at the pass with his opening statement: "Anything we do from a personnel standpoint involving players, or from a coaching standpoint involving coaches, will be announced and talked about at the appropriate time. Today would not be the day to do that."

I just don't know about this one. I Keep thinking we have to keep him for at least another year but then again, some of the Sh@# I've see our D do (or not do rather) is such a head-scratcher, I find it hard to wrap my brain around how he can possibly still have a job??!!!

I think the players made Robs D look worse than it should have been

No pressure up front, DB's getting confused and blowing coverages, linebackers and safeties missing tackles

In my opinion, if Robs halftime speech to the D was anything like they made out it was, then SP can see that Rob genuinely cares about making the D better.

Although I could be wrong and SP could fire him lol.

IMO, RR gets a mulligan because I doubt anyone foresaw the effect releasing Harper and Jenkins would have.

Since SP as well as RR signed off on releasing those players, they have to accept the blame for what occurred.

Since it can only improve, unless the league add half a dozen teams next year, I think the defense will get to at least middle of the pack next year.

I am not enthusiastic about changing DC's every 2 years. We need some stability. I am in favor of keeping Rob if he is allowed to pick his assistant coaches and we trade or release those player who mailed it in early or who were locker room distractions.

And then on the other hand if there is someone better out there for DC we should consider a move.

Let the playoffs play out. See who's available. THEN make a decision.

There wont be much change with the core we habe. Im sorry but unless the boys on de just got freaken drunk from all the coolaide that was written and said before the season i dont see how we get better or any worst by giving RR his walking papers. If he stays im in if not im in. In payton we trust. Mickey too.

I don't think Rob Ryan forgot how to coach. But i do think their was a communication problem.

Rob isn't going anywhere. All we really need is o-line help and a waterboy.
