Drew now has a couple extra seconds to survey the field, and our run game should improve, especially if we upgrade one of the OG's as well. We also get some more cap relief to spend on some defense.

And Seattle got the 2nd best TE in the league.
No doubt, Danno. I mean Drew has had poor blocking in 13 and 14, in my opinion. Last year was the worse of all. We can win without Jimmy, we won a SB without him, but oline, I don't think so.

And Graham was getting paid way too much. We could have paid 2 big name defenders or an o-lineman and d-lineman with that pay.

Graham has been hurt two seasons in a row. That super pay he gets depends on him being healthy 100% of the time which isn't the case.

I think Graham has a high probability of struggling next year. I think his success was due largely to Drew Brees prowess as a passer. We will see.

Man, now that this has sunk in a little more I can't tell you how much I love this deal. I was sick and tired of forced passes to Graham in double and triple coverage. Our offense was at it's best when Drew had time to spread the ball around. Plus, extra first round pick!!!

To be frank, he just will not be there.

Re: Saints Trade Graham to the Seahawks

PFT:

So why did the Saints move on from tight end Jimmy Graham? It wasn’t an easy decision, but there were several important reasons for it.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Saints decided that the opportunity to acquire another first-round draft pick from the Seahawks and the ability to jettison Graham’s contract would allow them to devote resources to improve a defense that needs plenty of help.

More importantly, the Saints believe that they can and will move the ball without Graham on the roster. He’s had injury issues the last two years, and the Saints were pleased with the production in his absence. Also, the team ultimately saw no real correlation between Graham’s performance and team success.

While the move doesn’t create much if any 2015 cap space, it gives the Saints extra cash and clears Graham’s big-money deal from last July off the books.

I guess time will tell if this was good or not.

I really liked Jimmy though. It's gonna suck seeing him out there with the Seahawks. Ugh.
