Bashing Brooks

Look, I defended Brooks for the first 2-3 years he was our starting quarterback. Everyone complained about him and I was always the one blaming the offensive line. As I grew older and more mature, I learned more about football and the responsibilties of each player. I watched Saints games and began getting frustrated with Brooks when I realized how immature he was as a quarterback. Yes, I complain about Brooks. Maybe I complain too much sometimes, but I do wish for him to succeed. I probably also focus more on the negative about Brooks' abilities than the positive. So, I would like to apologize for that.

With that said, this next part shows the true mentality of a Saints fan.

Some time ago, a couple of friends, my dad, and I were tossing around the football in my backyard. One of my friends, as a typical young football fan, belts out "Donovan McNabb!" He then proceeds to take a 3 step drop, side step, and throw the football to another friend. That friend followed in the same fashion by saying "Tom Brady," stepping up and throwing the football to me. Naturally, I say "Favre!" I then proceed to escape the invisible rush, throw off my back foot, and deliver a dead on pass to my father. My father then proceeds to say "Aaron Brooks!" He then pulled his arm back to pass and let it rip...backwards.

We all shared in the laugh.

As my years are progressing as a football fan, I'm beginning to believe Aaron Brooks is actually the leader of this football team. What I mean is the team and Brooks can both be described the same way, extremely talented, but makes dumb and immature mistakes.

I don't know how I truely feel about Brooks. He's the best quarterback on our team and he's our quarterback so I should give him my full support. Its just incredibly hard to do when he continues to make simple mistakes...or what they call in baseball, UNFORCED ERRORS.

I think next week I will try to only focus on the positive things Brooks does. Maybe then I can regain some of that "FAITH."
