Happy Mardi Gras! Catch dem trows like it's your JOB!!!
It's been a while since enjoying the truly wonderful family feel where we hang during the parades. While it is a remarkable difference between now and the 1960's, it's easy to tell that class is earned not bought.
I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this particular kind of territorialism that I find creeping into the enjoyment. People are staking out their arrangements with towers, ladders, tents, chairs and barbeques, even leaving them over days on sidewalks and the neutral ground. But the insidious part to me is that they squat on their turf, then act aggressively if anyone is near them, especially in the street in front.
One doesn't get it both ways. One may not claim areas to sit, then claim different areas to stand, no matter how early the claim was made. Whining about not being able to see or being "here first" are not sympathetic arguments. You want to sit, sit and don't see. You want to stand and see, move your chair. You have no right or reason to act like the Benson heirs over public property.
