To me it really seems unfair that a person could honestly earn a scholarship for something other than athletics and be penalized for it. They solved one problem, but created another, IMO. I really don't know if those rules still apply today, but I think that if they still do, it would be good for a person to know that if he earns a scholarship in another area, don't even think about trying out for the team unless you think you're good enough to earn a scholarship for that sport as well. It's a good thing that "Rudy" was a true walk-on or otherwise he would have never had an opportunity to play in that last game. |
