And just imagine the debates we'll be treated to as 12 teams are equally deserving of the final 4 playoff spots.

You misread my post. Even at 16 teams you could have 12 teams claiming the right to be that 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th team.

IIRC, Louisville was ranked 17th, and would likely have been excluded form a 16 game playoff.

The complaining won't stop regardless of how many teams you let in.
