Yeah, that's why I don't envy Shanahan having to rule on this stuff ... the game is fast & things change in a split-second, players don't have a lot of time to make judgements, change directions, et... IMO and from personal experience, most hits like that are just the result of a player realizing a collision is inevitable and doing their best not to get hurt themselves ... but it all happens in a split second ... you're taught to take a hit just like in football, it's just a reaction & I didn't see anything malicious in this one.

He doesn't stick the knee out, but he definitely goes into the hit with the leg planted, looking to go leg v leg. He's a smart player and knew what he was doing.

I hate it when they call for players to be suspended/fined for something which can easily be deemed accidental. I agree it needs to be addressed, but not in a punitive manner.

Hey, I'm all about being on the fence, ... I guess you could argue Brown knew what he was doing ... the guy is all over YouTube with hits/fights. With the current way they're looking at player safety and preventing injuries, I'd agree with 1 game and/or $2500, but not the lifetime ban Smith & Doan are crying about.
