It happens. Howard seems to have streaks like that where most other goalies have a game or two like that in a row. How much Wings equipment is he wearing?

Howard is using his RedWing goalie pads because they don't have the Detroit logo, but everything else is USA Hockey ... Valtteri Filppula netted a couple goals as Finland beat Switzerland 5-2.

I looked it up...actually, the only USA things he has are his jersey and pants (at least pant coverings)...he has his Wings goalie mask...and his stick, glove, pads (like you said), and blocker...they actually go nicely with it...Red, White, and Blue

Oh, that's cool ... I only saw an interview with Howard after they beat Canada in O/T and he wasn't wearing his mask, ... USA Hockey are real sticklers about that kind of stuff, I'm glad they let him keep his mask for the tournament.

I'm surprised they are allowing anything logo'ed. Do you guys remember the Olympics a few years ago when everyone had to cover all logos with tape? It looked like an intramural or pickup league tournament.

I don't remember that, but that is the Olympics...this is the IIHF. I think they allowed it (the helmet) because it is red and only seems to have one reference to the Wings on it...the Old English D on the chin.

Olympics or World Championships, participation is still governed by USA Hockey ... but I think you're right, they'll allow the Old English 'D' but not the 'Winged Wheel' or anything referencing an NHL team ... which is cool, I like the MotorCity skyline on the side of Howard's helmet ... but yeah, I'm surprised they allowed the Old English 'D' ... they must be loosening up, .

The USA is leading both Groups H & S in scoring with 19 goals after 4 games ... unfortunately, we've allowd 13 goals and would be in 3rd in either group ... defending champions, Finland, got a boost in scoring after playing Switzerland/France and have only allowed 3 goals in four games ... they play Canada tonight in which should be a great game ... we play Finland on the 13th, gonna' be another good game.

Ya...well he has other references, but none that would be known to any others who didn't follow the team...like the guys on the back who died in that Russian plane crash...or the retired #'s on his "jawbone" of his mask. I didn't see all of them, but I know 1, 9, and 12 are on the left if you are facing towards it

I see the Canadians won last night eh?

Yeah, beat Kazakhstan 8-0, a team the USA needed overtime to beat 3-2 ... the Canadians had to make a statement after the US beat them earlier, , but Canada's biggest win was against Finland on Friday & they're on to the next round ... USA plays Finland today and Switzerland on Monday ... it's looking pretty good for the US to advance into the quarterfinals even if they drop one of those games ... which Finland could beat them, they got better goaltending (hate to say it with Howard in net for the USA) and if they can keep it a low scoring game, the US will have problems with them.
