I don't believe being "shown the door" is the correct description of his departure. I think "choosing to walk through the door for a better opportunity" is more accurate. I understand the Saints were willing to keep him but he wanted a chance to start which he admitted himself wasn't going to happen in the Saints' 4-2 front behind Davis and Werner. He made the right decision to move on to a location where he could get the start right away at more than one LB position.
