Sure Matt Ryan is a B+ QB, but that's why I'm interested in his take... He's been critical of the Falcons in his posts so I think he'd have a level-headed take on the situation. Not trying to bait an argument, just curious because it's the kind of deal that changes the future of an organization.

We'd better hope the cap goes WAY up.

Because otherwise we've confined ourself to the NFCS cellar.

And don't be surprised if you see JJ11 in another team's jersey.

The Patriots have the cap room and need help.
Being that I'm a lifelong Bama fan and Julio played right down the street from me, and the fact that I was crushed to the bone when the Falcons picked him, I hope you are 100% correct.

Even if its the hated Patriots I'll dance for joy when he leaves the Falcons.

Damn... I wouldn't even say that he's a bottom third QB. I guess he does have elite weapons but that's why I was interested in your take. Roddy's probably going to be retired or cut because of age taking its toll before Julio's contract is up as well as other players being gone so I don't think Julio is going anywhere. I think you guys are probably gonna be fine... If there's anything we've learned from Mickey Loomis it's that there are so many ways around salary cap hell LOL.

Nowhere near a similarity there. We have a coach, a better GM, and an elite QB who has no argument or question about his track record or "elite" status. Atlanta has none of those things, at the level of quality that the Saints have them. Our GM and front office's precise talent is, scouting and signing hidden gems and high quality (and thus less expensive) players in the mid to later rounds, and making really smart, low cost free agent acquisitions (Sproles, Shockey, Vilma, etc). The Saints have been doing this for years, which is a perfect salary cap compliment to a highly paid, high value QB like Drew Brees. The Falcons' front office's MO is to reach down to pick up whatever shiny glittering objects that happen to catch their attention that minute. Falcons fans are STILL debating Ryan's "elite" status after every Falcons' loss and always will be, even after he is retired. It's been proven time and again, that Drew adds value when he makes lesser players perform better by being around him; no one ever says that about Ryan, it's all "star power" over in Atlanta, Julio, Tony, Roddy, Turner and they are about to find out long term that it's not a winning recipe.

The 125M salary cap will be consumed by someone. Whether its 124M to 1 player and 1M between the other 52, or equal distribution.... It has no effect on your ticket price.

Thanks for the essay dude... I just meant having to let players walk in free agency and probably restructuring contracts of players to sign other players. You know, the stuff we deal with now that we pay top dollar to our QB.

Folks, let's be honest here.

The last time the Falcons had a legitimate shot at the SB was 2006.
I guess I am.

Bottom third? I don't think so...

He's not elite, but not as bad as you're making him out to be. He's not young anymore either.

I think we have as good a chance as anyone to bring one home.
