When you represent your team, you have that responsibility. What do you think are one of the main reasons that pro athletes make so much more money than their job really warrants? It's because they are held to a higher standard as a public figure. I know losing sucks, and I wouldn't much feel like talking about it either. But if I were given the opportunity he has, I would stand in there and deal with it. I've dealt with worse. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

I know, I know. I'm not Cam. I'm not saying he has to process things exactly like me. In fact I would not encourage it, I'm not always so good with things. But there's a line. There are some behaviors that just look bad. |

Re: Really dislike Cam Newton but....
There is no excuse, no defense and no explaining away the way he behaved. The rest of his team (the guys he managed to throw under the bus before storming off) stood in and answered all the questions. You think they were any less disappointed or miserable than him? I read this morning that his offensive coordinator AND his position coach were BOTH in the room and were BOTH gesturing to him, trying to get him to take off the hood and take it like a man. He ignored them, just like my 3 year old does to me when she's upset about something, and stormed off. The difference between her and Cam is that if I tell her to knock it off, she does. She's pretty proficient with technology, maybe I can schedule some face time sessions between the two of them so she can impart some wisdom and maturity upon him.

Re: Really dislike Cam Newton but....
Well... I guess we'll just disagree on this one. I get everything you're saying, but after watching hundreds of interviews with superbowl losing players, I haven't seen this before. I'd like to see a guy who's all about himself have a better showing when it matters. And I'm not talking about his on-field play. Answering questions in August doesn't change anything either. It's just part of their job.
