COUNTDOWN: Days until I escape from Alltel Hell

Whatever you do, don't sign up with Alltel wireless phone service. I have paid tons in over charges and have had to fight for my life over the past year to get credited for roaming charges within my calling plan, especially charges from within my house! Alltel's roaming fees are the most expensive in the industry- $.45 per minute if you roam.

STAY AWAY! BEWARE! :flush:

RIP OFF, RIP OFF, RIP OFF...

18 DAYS UNTIL 12/17/04 when I escape this hell.

Yeah, a girl I know is stuck on Alltel. Her phone doesn\'t get a clear signal anywhere, including her own apartment or my house, and we both live just outside Birmingham. She has to drive up the road about 5 miles from her apartment to get a signal. I\'ve never asked about her roaming charges because it never picks up anywhere long enough to complete a call. She\'s complained repeatedly about the service, but Alltel refuses to do anything, including cancelling her contract.

May I recommend Cingular?

Honestly go Sprint or Verizon. Both use the same towers and Verizon has no roaming packages and so does Sprint for 5 bucks more a month. I carry both and both are excellent providers. Sprint is very good if u have many friends that use sprint. Verizon is an up-and-comer and I expect them to be the #1 provider within the next 2 years. Sprint is #1 now, then Verizon, then unfortunatley Cingular, as far as coverage area goes. It also depends alot on the brand of phone. Sanyo phones will give u the best coverage out there, hands down.

Got word today (after the service failed for about 50 miles-it\'s a dead zone in the middle civilization

) that I will be escaping sooner than expected.

The tech support operater told me that my bill is due on the 7th of each month and according to my contact I can escape then instead of waiting till the contract expires on the 17th...

4, (IV), four- more days to go.

Ok, new wrinkle... :cussing: My contract ends on December 17th and Alltel will not allow me to get out of it until then. The rules change daily.

If I switch now I will have to pay for an extra month for nothing because if I port the number over to another service, the Alltel service wil die...

So I decided to use all my Alltel minutes in 2 weeks so I can move over to a new carrier. :EVILLE:

If anyone wants to help me waist my cell minutes, email me and I will send you my number so we can blow them out.

Well I have Alltel never had a problem. Of course I have a tendency of losing my phone. No harm if I lose it just another 50$ dollars.

I have a new Motorola mpx220 Smartphone, it is totally awesome! It does everything but open up and kiss me on the cheek.

BlackandGold must be profitable. :yltype: That\'s a costly phone. (Ok, I\'m just jealous. :P ) I have cingular and it\'s time to upgrade my phone, I don\'t think I can go that high though.
