Really? How many QB's HAS PAYTON DRAFTED in the first or early second round?

Ten quarterbacks were selected past the third round in the draft and later went on to win Pro Bowls and even Super Bowls. While their draft positions may have been low, it didn't stop them from being motivated enough to accomplish rare feats in NFL history.

I hate Brady but he is a good example of a late round drafted QB succeeding in the NFL. They are out there. You've just got to have the eye for talent. Personally, I don't think Sean wants a rookie. He seems to like to elevate the play from experienced QB's with potential to grow like Drew....or even Teddy.

Brady wasn't the Pats having a eye for talent. They took a pu t with a late pick and it worked out. If they new how good he could be they'd never ha e risked waiting. Its the same with anyone who turns in a top career from a late pick

Well, my point is Payton hasn’t had to develop another QB because he has had Brees all this time. If he would have wasted a first or high 2nd round draft pick on a QB and not developed him then it would be a serious strike against him IMO. “Missing” on a Mid third round QB pick isn’t a big deal.

And yes, there have been the Bradys and Wilsons that have had success as third plus round picks. But the league is more full of guys like Mahomes, Allen, Rodgers, Brees, Ryan, Stafford, Watson, Murray, Jackson, Burrows, etc that are first rounders.

It's looking like later rather than sooner.
