2021 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; LCB (2) 00 - Paulson Adebo - Mr. Mansfield . I think he could realistically play a lot as a rookie, maybe even start. Kris Richard has something to work with here....

Now I’m curious to see what numbers these rookies take with the new number rules.

I'm loving the versatility and depth on the D line.

Anyone think we're still in need of a veteran WR and CB?

Absolutely. Whether it's Conley, Sherman or Breeland you simply can't go into camp with Lattimore (he has legal issues too) & an unproven rookie expecting him to start. PRob is a year older and become injury prone and PJ is simply a guy I wouldn't trust on those boundaries.

It would be wise to add another veteran corner onto the roster.

I’m still a bit worried about the d line against the run. Brown and Rankins both were key to establishing the line of scrimmage and anchoring the run D. I’m not saying the guys on roster can’t handle it, but I have concerns.

I agree on both CB and WR vet help if it’s available and affordable.

Agreed. M.Brown’s replacement is not on the roster yet..., I also am worried about run defense.

Tuttle and Roach rose up the depth chart last season with both Brown and Rankins missing time, and they did a very nice job at it. So I'm not too worried about the big boys in the middle with Nielsen calling the shots, which is a nice departure from the Bill Johnson era.

That UDFA DT looks promising as well.

Fully understand that logic wrt the recent acquisitions who’ve never played a down for the Saints, and agree with that optimism. But, when Brown wasn’t in the rotation/lineup, the run defense took a step backwards, significantly from my view. Week’s 14, 15, & 16 were the 3 regular season games Brown didn’t appear in last year. And the normally super stout run defense surrendered 246, 179, and 90 yards respectively. 246, and then 179? That constitutes “doing a very nice job at it”? 90 yards from Minnesota and D.Cook? Yeah, it’s hard to shut him down, but that was an odd game in which the Saints rushed the ball 45 times for over 250 yards (combined) and scored 52 points, A.Kamara having six rushing TD’s. D.Cook only touched the ball 15 times, and still had almost a 5 ypc average.

Fully understand, and agree with, an argument that says team defense stats shouldn’t be assigned to one or two players alone, and also the argument that a lot of things were different for that defensive line other than just Brown/Rankins being replaced with Tuttle/Roach.

But I just didn’t see what you saw out of Tuttle or Roach last season, doubly so for when they “rose up the depth charts”.

246?

179?

Back to Back games?

Oooofff
