Particularly, he appreciated some of my out-of-the-box/return to tradition thinking for our fraternity as he did the same in the sports he coached... One thing he did and it showed some success, was he'd rotate his defensive linemen wholesale, as they rotate the frontlines in hockey... His thinking was that by the middle of the third quarter, his defensive line(s) would have more stamina than the offensive lines he was facing... He only got into trouble when he'd come across better lines that could expose his team's lack of depth; those schools up north were amazingly huge to here... Last season and this year, believe with an aging (and it showed) Cam Jordan, that the Saints will need to rotate DEs often so the pass rush stays fresh four quarters... That'll be a good thing to get into a situation where we draft a new DE every other year and don't have to commit so much cap space to one player... It worked for New England... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Re: 2021 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook
When not battling injury he has looked extremely impressive. One thing to note is that due to his strength against the run he has played a high percentage of early downs. While Hendrickson excelled this past season as a pass rusher (2nd in sacks) he was only tied for 103rd in the league for solo tackles and 112th in assists.

Perception is not reality
2020 Stats ******************* Jadeveon Clowney Titans 8GAMES 17 TOT SOLO12 AST 5 SCK 0 Marcus Davenport Saints **** 11GAMES 21 TOT SOLO12 AST 9 SCK 1.5 Clowney 31 games first 3 years 10.5 sacks Davenport 37 games first 3 years 12 sacks Clowney was going to bring the Saints to the Promised Land, Remember? Imagine the screaming and moaning had the Saints signed Clowney and he got injured! Those who complain about how often injured Davenport is ignore the same thing about Clowney. |

No, the sad part is people that want to make excuses for Davenport and try to justify spending 2 first round draft picks on what he has brought the team and ignore the fact that his performance clearly has not been worth 2 first round draft picks.

Combined, however, we were able to turn them into a single premium pick and acquire what I expect to be an integral part of our defensive line for years to come.![]()

Re: 2021 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook
Stamina, Endurance, Ruggedness, Durability are as much a part of it athleticism...
Two firsts and a fifth are not on Davenport, just a first round pick, the three picks are on Sean... And because of that move up in the draft, Sean had to overspend again to take McCoy when he could've been had with a first round pick... And the subsequent picks could have been used on a CB2, another guard, a linebacker, et cetera... The constant moving up has been more detrimental than beneficial, equally deterring to this team's success is Sean has tenure and is basically unaccountable... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
