My feeling is most people pick their favorite player for fit and scheme and then we discuss them in great depth at times...I like it!

Incidentally I rarely watch smug Godhell run the draft and hugging players like he really cares has me only clicking back and forth to see if we traded up.
I try to learn as much as I can about the players we actually draft, or sign as UDFA's. I really don't care about the rookies that end up on other teams unless they end up getting a starting job and then it's for fantasy purposes. I guess it helps understand if one was actually into college ball to begin with. And, yes, I watch the NFL games for entertainment. That's why I would always want more games.

Living in Dallas, I've seen local kids up close and in person as early at 13/14 years old compete, many go on to college & a select few see their dreams become a reality on NFL draft day. Kyler Murray (Allen High), Myles Garrett - (Arlington Martin High), Matthew Stafford (Highland Park), Chase Daniels (Southlake), Solomon Thomas (Coppell) all good kids I've watch perform as teenagers become "big time" & NFL stars on Sundays.

My love of the sport has nothing to do with whether or not the Saints ultimately select them on draft day. I enjoy the interaction and opinions from others (Smash, JP, Rez, JNormand,Lee909,76, XVI, Rugs, Papz etc) on this board on scouting players, best "fit" & predictions on how they'll translate from college to the next level.

We don't have to wait for the "experts" predict who they think is best fit in the draft for the Saints .

Fun, healthy draft conversations.
Bro...Guido can't have a fun, healthy conversation. Bahahaha!!

I missed this post while I was off to the Nashville honky-tonks. Thanks for the input, K! It doesn't bother me. I'm just curious because I have never got into it myself. I can clearly see your motivation with your explanation. With your interest in local youth football, high school, and college ball it makes sense. The only high school games I have seen were when my youngest played. He never played football before or after. It was baseball growing up before then and then music after. My older son swam through high school and into college.

I was seriously wondering where the motivation came from. I seems to me you are more interested in the players themselves more than attempting to figure out who you would want be be drafted by the Saints. It that correct?

I'm assuming the others that are into it have some sort of the same background and I can understand sharing that interest. Is this correct? Anyone else up to sharing their love of the pre-draft?

Not even the the notorious 2014 Draft?

Brandin Cooks, WR. 2014 Draft: First Round, 20th Overall: ...

Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB. 2014 Draft: Second Round, 58th Overall. (and passing on WR Landry when we needed one in a deep WR draft because we were silly and took only Cooks instead)

Khairi Fortt, LB. 2014 Draft: Fourth Round, 126th Overall: ...
Vinnie Sunseri, S. 2014 Draft: Fifth Round, 167th Overall: ...
Ronald Powell, OLB. 2014 Draft: Fifth Round, 169th Overall: ...
Tavon Rooks, OT.

None but Cooks even in the NFL. Got the entire Scouting Dept fired and brought use ireland. That's what disappointment does. Or, as Forrest Gump's momma would say, "Stupid is what Stupid does."
LOL! I never said that I have never been disappointed in the eventual results of a draft, MarchingOn. My reference to not being disappointed is that I don't have my mind set on certain players that I have spent time researching and hoping beyond hope that my team takes those players when the real kaka hits the fan. Some seem to take the picks personally and for some it seems to take years to recover if they don't match their expectations, if ever.

That what I meant. I don't set my expectations so when the draft takes place I enjoy every pick and immediately start trying to find out about who we picked.

Considering you claim to have blocked me you can entirely miss the point of my interest. But, keep that head stuck into the sand.

You don’t care about the draft Guido like we don’t care about your son’s music career.

I do care about the draft. When have I ever said I don't care? I can't wait to see who we draft. That and the free agency keep it going all year round.
