this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; remember we made the payment this year so they would not be able to legally move until after the 2006 season. That's not exactly true. Performance on the part of the State includes providing the Saints with a "state-of-the-art" playing ...

RE: San Antonio Claiming Saints
No here... its not a SA - Houston thing... its a Louisiana Texas thing. I don't have a problem with SA/Texas making a buck having Saints game in the mean time. THey took in the people and bent over backwards to help NO. Let them reap the rewards and show they can handle and support an NFL team, any other team would do the same. I agree whole heartedly if they do end up getting a team I seriously don't thing its going to be the Saints. Benson is going out of his way to help rebuild and give back to the area. I don't thing the NFL is going to allow him to move a team out of that city with what is going on now. NFL loves New Orleans, why would they move a team and not have any SB's there. The rebuilding city... new dome, think of the publicity NO will get. The NFL also wants a 'particular type owner' with new cities. I don't think they want Benson in SA nor LA for sure. I am not going to worry about this because there is steal a lot of red tape right now and the people have made it well aware that the Saints is all they have left to...

RE: San Antonio Claiming Saints
I think it's awful.
Death Valley is available. Haslett has publicly stated he'd prefer to play at LSU. Players have done the same. I know the logistics of doing that would be tough - turning around such a large area so quickly from Saturday to Sunday. But it could be done. No, instead, let's just put the game out of the reach of most of our displaced people. And now, I hear our Saints/Giants game will be pre-empted from national TV as soon as the other "more important" game starts. C'mon. |

Actually Haslett has said that he would prefer to play in San Antonio, and so has Joe Horn and other players.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2155587 I would love to keep the Saints in Louisiana, but it doesn't look like it is going to happen that way. I see your point here DJ, it looks like SA is taking advantage |

RE: Re: RE: San Antonio Claiming Saints
Thank you for pointing out the article.
But... just for the record, I saw Haslett on a television interview, about four days ago, stating Baton Rouge was his first choice. This was from his own lips. I just want you to know that I'm not making things up. Apparently, he has changed his tune. |
