Re: TE Adam Trautman Year Two

I think most of the talking heads had problems with grading Trautman because of the competition he was going against in college.

He looked like a man going against boys in his highlights videos, so it was hard to determine how much of that was his ability versus the level of competition.

I think it ultimately came down to his great performance in the senior bowl and the combine that made people realize he was performing at a high level regardless of the competition.

I wanted him out of the top end of last year's TE group because I thought he had the most potential upside (while maybe the biggest risk as well), and I thought at the time that it was a great move by the FO to give up their remaining picks to move up and get him.

His jersey will be a seller.
Agree 100%. Should have worked him in more last year when Cook started with the attitude.

He actually was credited as starting five of the last seven games. I can't wait to see him fully acclimated this season.

Adam isn't the fastest TE but inside of 10-15 yards, he'll be deadly. Here is where you'll see why he timed so well in the cone drill. I really like his athleticism.
I'm not a scout and the only football I know I've learned here having never played the game, while coming from a just a rugby background, nonetheless, my eyes tell me he will be a big contributor in New Orleans for the next decade. I see a man with great focus that wants to hit people...let that sink in for a moment. I've been wanting someone who plays with with bad intentions. I'm looking forward to hearing his name roar through the Superdome. Oh yes, I hear he's always been a team leader and is great in the locker room.

He's got the blocking down pretty good his first year with no camp and he runs clean routes when he's not blocking. He fights for yardage after the catch rather than trying to run around people which limits his YAC. To me that sounds like a great skillset for todays evolving game.
