I wonder how the national fake news media will treat the Saints if Winston steps up his game and beats his old team ?

They’ll act like they knew he could do it all along and give all the credit to Payton and the Saints organization for reforming him instead of highlighting how hard this kid has been working this off-season and the sacrifices he made to come sit behind Brees and then come back to New Orleans again when he could have got more on the open market from another team.

Is that what happened? I thought I heard his only other offer was to sit behind never injured Dak (well, at that time) instead of a situation where Drew was obviously retiring soon leaving a void. Why wouldn't he want to stick around after Drew left when we have such a loaded team with no clear replacement nearby? It makes sense from his standpoint, I don't hate him for it but you make it sound so altruistic.
I'm not sure how hard he's worked and I'm not sure that anyone else does either. If you really watched the video you saw a lot of bad decisions being made (by Hill as well) that I really hope can be corrected, but it's not going to be by himself, it's going to be by coaching and study. Yes, obviously part of that depends on him, but if you think it's entirely on him I think that's silly.
I think both Hill and Winston need coaching up, that and Sean coming up with the right game plan for either one is what it's going to take to keep our playoff streak going and possibly do better.

I am equally disappointed seeing "he will!!" and "he can't!!" posts, isn't it reasonable to have some doubt given the evidence either way?

Nick Underhill was probably one of the first to report JW having more "lucrative" offer(s) elsewhere.

I want to say Jacksonville, Chicago, WFT & San Diego were a few of those teams calling.

I'd never seen anything confirming any of that.

and even if so, did he have a clear path to be a starter in any of those stops?

WFT & Jacksonville. Chicago would have been a bridge for JW while they groom their shiny new toy (1st rounder J Fields).

Do really you think Winston wanted to be a bridge QB somewhere else when potentially he could start long term with OUR talented team?

Washington would have been a great look for him. They have a really good defense and a lot of young weapons on offense. Plus they have a weak division and like to throw a nice bag at their players. I never said his choice was altruistic. His decision was mature and calculated. A good sign from somebody whose only issues have been maturity and decision making.

Circle back to just last season when the Saints embarassed Tampa/Brady on national tv. The "media" found tons of excuses for Golden Boy & very little praise of Brees.

I'd expect more of the same if Winston has similar success against his former team.
