Jeff Duncan | How unanswered calls contributed to delay in Michael Thomas' surgery

Yikes! Not returning calls from the coaches, blowing off doctor appointments and then showing up this summer still injured. What a disaster.

What a clown.

Wish we still had guys like Colston, Henderson, Meachem and Moore instead of Thomas.

We've got who we've got. As long as he helps us win games when he's out there then that's all that matters to me. The same with any other player

But not returning calls from your coach & Saints front office staff? … For months? I’m just a casual fan but that is a very bad look from Mike.

Winning is hard enough but he put this team in a bad spot.

We’ll have to see how this plays out down the road but I find it hard to see this ending well for Mike and his future in New Orleans.

My .02.

Don’t forget that Mike’s little suspension last season apparently wasn’t necessarily for punching CJGJ in practice, but rather for a confrontation with Payton afterwards. Something weird has been brewing. I don’t think he wants to be here without Brees.

I'm just saying as long as he is here and can produce I am cool and positive for my team. If in the future he needs to go, then fine.

He not here for the team and wasn’t there for them last year. I gave him the benefit of the doubt last year but now he is just a salary cap issue.

If he doesn’t want to be available for us then let him go somewhere else.

Dude...trade him for some picks. He got paid and turned into a douche bag. Bye Felicia.

I hope he comes back healthy plays and plays at high level so that when, not if, SP and ML trade his noncom a$$ :biggun: for starting talent in the secondary, OLG, OLT with high character team first attitude.

They cant do it it

They can save 15ml cutting or trading him next year. I don't think he plays this year and is gone next year. Another one given a big contract and starts to act the fool after it.

Something needs done in the rules to punish players and not the teams for things like this. He has blown off his obligation to at least try and be in shape for the season. By not turning up to deal with a injury knowing you will get paid regardless and can then rehab when you should be playing so you can do whatever he's been doing the last 4 months is ridiculous.

Something needs added to contracts that if you screw up and get a serious arrest the teams should be able to cut you and not suffer the cap penalties. I don't mean for a DUI etc but something major. Same if you are injured and you don't even turn up for medicals, put off surgery till camp and miss games the teams shouldn't have to get stung on the cap for that.

I think Calloway will have a big year and MT will become expendable next year when we actually save money by sending him off. I’m sure we could probably get a 1st for him.

Re: Jeff Duncan | How unanswered calls contributed to delay in Michael Thomas' surgery

This is why you don’t pay top dollar for diva positions. They go belly up once paid. Thought Thomas would be different, but apparently not. Looks like he’s going to be a cap burden for years to come, trade bait next year perhaps? Now let’s see if AK does the same…

Re: Jeff Duncan | How unanswered calls contributed to delay in Michael Thomas' surgery

There are often two sides to a story so it would be good to hear Mike's. But it's not looking good. It would seem smart to prepare the offense in a way that we are not expecting Thomas to return, ever.

Re: Jeff Duncan | How unanswered calls contributed to delay in Michael Thomas' surgery

If I remember right there is a clause of some sort that makes his contract voidable if he gets suspended. The FO did him a solid last year by not officially suspending him when he got into it with coach Payton. It sounds like the organization has tried their hardest to make Thomas happy and he just doesn’t want to be here. They need to suspend him for the next dumb ass thing he inevitably does, void his contract and get rid of him. I’ll be curious to find out if he’s still elite without the most accurate Qb in the business throwing to him.

Re: Jeff Duncan | How unanswered calls contributed to delay in Michael Thomas' surgery

It's a shame seeing what these promising Rookie Wide Receivers turn into.

First Brandin Cooks goes from promising rookie to complaining about not getting the ball during a 84 reception, 1138 yard season.

Now Thomas goes from fantastic rookie, to fighting with his own teammates, ignoring coaches calls / required surgeries and arguing with anyone and everyone on Twitter. He's basically becoming T.O but without game breaking ability.

Ship him to wherever Cam the Scam is playing, the Jets Denver, Philly and let see how productive he is with someone other than DB … good luck :biggun:

Re: Jeff Duncan | How unanswered calls contributed to delay in Michael Thomas' surgery

This from the guy who came down on Drew for saying he respected the flag. More I think about this the more it ticks me off (though it does not surprise me). Extremely low class if it indeed played out this way. I commented in another thread that this didn’t add up. Others were trying to cover for him by mumbling about second opinions and “do no harm” lines.

Trade him for deshaun watson. They both need a change of scenery.

Whew...that’s a tough one. At least Thomas’ troubles don’t involve the courts...yet.

My story will still be the same, that he's a childish, arrogant head case that has no respect for coaches or teammates.

I've read reports he could return as early as week three, but week five is very reasonable.

So, you are fine with a player ignoring his coach, trainers, and teammates and simple fans shouldn’t have a negative opinion about his behavior?

Nope. Not at all. But I'm not one to wallow in the negative. I'm a "let's move forward and make the best of things" type person. I guess that's hard for some to get a grip on.

I'm hoping it isn't something negative, but I'll probably be wrong based upon past history.

Nobody questions ability of @CantGuardMike, it's the emergence of a pattern of unprofessionalism since he signed for the #BigMo...

Thomas and Gardner's dustup in practice isn't concerning; but when Payton intervened, there's was some disrespect that came down from the wideout...

Fast-forward to the offseason with both a breakdown in communication with the team re: ongoing injury as well as flippant attitude to followup with physicians...

With Drew Brees not in house, where does the leadership now come? Not the rah-rah pregame stuff, but the veteran leadership that let's Mike know this isn't cool...

With the coin, cap commitment invested, MT isn't getting traded; but there needs to be a Code Red to address his behaviour, attitude before this gets out-of-hand...

I think it's already is out of hand. With Drew out of the building, a high character person would see this as an opportunity to lead, Thomas instead has taken the opposite path and disrespected his coaches and the team.

I have a feeling it bothers you and others FAR more than it does his teammates. Rez has spent for more time in a locker room than any of us and he may be able to verify this.

If Mike comes back, Coach Payton will need to channel his inner Phil Jackson to keep the team focused with a black sheep of sorts. But in the meantime, we've got Jameis and plenty of condoms
