According to a legal analyst on NFL Radio, can't remember who, the manner in which the league is now handling player discipline depends upon whether or not it is a criminal issue. He gave an example of a player who's preliminary hearing is not scheduled until next February and how the league will not rule on any discipline until then. Lattimore could fall under that category. I've searched but have yet to find anything on any hearing to date.

In the past there has been no rhyme or reason to disciplining players. In these cases the player is assumed innocent unless "proven" guilty. DUI's, speeding tickets, failing drug tests, etc. are more clear cut for immediate "sentencing". All that said, there's nothing in writing as a new policy so there is no guarantee. |
