Re: Report: Saints trading for Texans cornerback Roby

Hope we didn't give up too much; Kevin White was a first round pick - No. 7th pick, in fact...

Roby was an on again, off again starter in DEN, replaced by Tlaib...

In Houston, he was shifted over to the NB, important, but no longer a boundary CB; then again, Houston...

Guess we'll see how the Saints Coaching Staff deploys him and if he's effective; Nick made a great point that the pick will be high because they're eating salary...

Note: For those of you who think the salary cap is hard fast re: trades, bookmark this trade away - you can schlep the numbers...

Depth is impressive now, but with Crawley out and Trufant released by Bears for availability concerns, got a feeling we won't find out much now...

Post Week 1 Game, then Payton is required to disclose and we'll see...

So what you're saying is he's not nearly as good as Janoris. So we've should've kept Janoris for one more year, using a salary restructure as a tool.

The conversion of base salary was part of the deal and from what I am hearing it is costing the Saints multiple picks.

Janoris’s age scares me.

Any veteran with mid to above average skills and healthy, can adjust to scheme and coaching much quicker. This gives our rookie CB time the learn the speed and tempo and develop his film study habits. Good / neccessary move on the front office’s part.

If the Saints did in fact give up more than one pick for Roby, that wouldn’t bother me. He’s a GOOD CB that we were lacking at a position of need with the exit of Janoris.

After the Saints were unsuccessful in going up in the draft to select Jaycee Horn, it showed they were serious about the CB position opposite Latt.

The likes of Crawley & PJ aren’t gonna get it done @ the 2 spot.

How does this line of thinking jive with Trufant? He's 30 and over the hill too? Why was he still available and Janoris not available since he signed with another team after we cut him?

Maybe it is the difference in dollars? IDK what Jenkins cost was and what he signed for (too lazy to look up) but it seems like they got two CBs in Trufant and this guy for the price of one in Jenkins. Plus they got younger at the position.
