Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Patriots

I agree with most of this WW, except for labeling him as ineffective and for saying it’s basically the same offense. Without Thomas, a proven secondary receiver to Thomas, and a capable pass catching TE it’s not the same offense. TB and TH had these things while filling in for an injured Brees. Due to Thomas’ selfishness Winston has had to operate without this luxury.

You take away the Carolina game where they got mauled and ran for something like 8 yards then Winston has 7 TDs, no Ints, and like a 62% completion percentage. I call that effective.

Looks like we’ll have to agree to disagree. Your judging Jameis on his Tampa days and his small sample size here too. All I’m saying is give the man a chance. If we did that then Tannehill and other qb’s that washed out on the original teams would be out the league. If he pans out fantastic if not then move on to Book or dip into the draft or FA to find another. I trust Sean in that if he thinks he’s ok then that’s good enough. I want this team to win no matter who is under center I’m rooting for them not waiting for them to fail

Well, if we apply the same standard, this will be Jameis fourth start as a Saint and we should be able to come to a conclusion on Winston...

Ok, fair enough so what if he balls out, will you say oh it’s because the giants suck “which they do” or find some other reason as to why he shouldn’t be? They’ll both be 3-1 and Jameis already has the better td to int ratio and has no fumbles

Just as it would be to declare him the next Steve Young as Taysom had a 72% PaCmpRt, 208 PaYd/Gm, 4 PaTD, 4 RuTD, 2 Int, 2 Fl, going 3-1 in his first NFL starts...

If anything Taysom was trending up in his first four NFL starts...

Taysom faced one of the league's worst defenses in Atlanta (twice!), a team without a QB (Denver), and the last place team in the worst division in the NFL (Eagles) and lost that one.

I'd argue that as bad as the Giants are this season, they are better than any of the teams Taysom faced in his four games. The first three teams we have faced this season are all much better than what Taysom has faced.

If defense wins championships then we're set!

Main observation is that it’s nice to have a W to eat.
