Literally.

Not giving Andrus Beat that ridiculous contract would have left us with enough to pay T-rex.

Re: Hendrickson

Trey didn’t become Trey until year 4. We’ve got some good talent that’s still in development. Trey benefited having an available Onyemata last season when he balled out. There hasn’t been any good pass rush since game 1.
That’s when Davenport was reckoning havoc from the jump.
Let’s see what an intact healthy front looks like in a week or two.

Re: Hendrickson

Trey has at least matched if not outplayed Davenport since day one. He’s outplaying him now with another team. The “havoc” Davenport causes in the brief times he is on the field is way overblown IMO. Nothing against him at all. I like him and pull for the guy. But his selection and the trade made to move into that spot have not paid off.

That being said, signing Trey was not possible based on the way things were set up. If we could have turned most of the Peat money into Trey money, and maybe spent the extra first rounder used to get Davenport on another OL position (or WR) then we’d be in great shape. Unfortunately spending additional resources on DL position, then hitting on an even better player at the same position with less a lower pick bit the team in the rear in this case.

You think you know, but you don’t know...and you never will! Coach Jim Mora

Re: Hendrickson

Hendrickson is definitely earning his pay in Cincy. Davenport is what he always is. Flashes. But inconsistently. And injured.

One has to also question if Hendrickson would've developed quicker had he not been taking a backseat to Davenport while they tried to justify the draft pick for a season or 2.

Re: Hendrickson

I’d hate to lose Marcus Williams after this season and allowing an elite boundary corner in Lattimore even more.

I’ve never been a fan of huge paydays off one stellar season. Risky.

This is what happens when you draft well. Can’t keep everyone.

Spending two firsts and a third for Davenport was hardly drafting well.

Therein lies the rub... prolly no team would have given us anything close to a number 1 pick, et alone what we spent to draft him.

Hindsight is 2020. The draft is always a gamble (high picks) however the Saints last 4+seasons of drafting has been better than most.

Davenport is talented but simply injury prone.
