Good for the Saints looking to find players that can help the team win.

Per Article 33, Section 5f, clubs may only elevate practice squad players any combination of two regular or two postseason games in the same league year.

Read the rest of it. As I pointed out after the first two protected elevations the player can be elevated to the active roster again but must clear waivers to be reassigned to the practice squad. At that point the player cannot be elevated again that season. As I said, "partially correct". The rest of section 5f explains.

(f) A Practice Squad player may be elevated to a Club’s Active/Inactive List for a maximum combination of two regular season or postseason games in the same League Year. After a Club has elevated a player to its Active/Inactive List for a maximum combination of two games during the regular season or postseason, any subsequent elevation of the player must be an activation to the Club’s 53-player Active/Inactive List. In such a case, the player must first terminate his Practice Squad Player Contract and execute an NFL Player Contract, and the Club must request waivers on that contract, or terminate the contract if the player is not subject to waivers, before resigning the player to its Practice Squad. If the Club requests waivers on the player’s NFL Player Contract and that contract is not claimed by another Club, or if the Club terminates the player’s contract, the player shall become a free agent and shall be free to sign an NFL Player Contract or a Practice Squad Player Contract with any Club, including the Club that requested waivers or terminated the contract. If the player’s NFL Player Contract is not claimed, or if the contract is terminated, and the player subsequently signs a Practice Squad Player Contract with a new Club, nothing shall preclude the signing Club from elevating the player to its Active/Inactive List up to a maximum combination of two regular season or postseason games, subject to the rules set forth in this Section 5. If a Practice Squad Player: (i) has been elevated to a Club’s Active/Inactive List for either one or two games pursuant to this Subsection 5; and (ii) the Club subsequently requests waivers on or terminates his NFL Player Contract, or if the Club terminates his Practice Squad Player Contract; and (iii) thereafter resigns the player to its Practice Squad, the player may not be elevated to that Club’s Active/Inactive List pursuant to this Section 5 for the remainder of that regular or postseason.

This looks like a valid argument. If he had the surgery when he was supposed to then he might still have been able to come back in time to help his team. But he chose not to. That's all on him!

Water under the bridge, my friend. If a person remains pissed off over everything that has ever pissed them off they'll spend the remainder of their life being pissed off about everything.

That is a conscious decision.

It’s not water under the bridge when it is currently screwing the team. It’s certainly not your job to dictate to others what topics are under the bridge. An injury to a player (like Davenport) is understandable. Even though I have frequently dissed on his selection I have no doubt he has/is doing what he can to get on the field. That claim can not be made of Thomas. By some accounts he did what he could to avoid playing. The team is currently deciding if there is anything that can be done to help clear up the mess he helped make. His (Rugby) thoughts are relevant and timely.

By all means I would have hoped Thomas could have had the procedure done earlier. I would also have hoped that a second procedure would not have been required as is the case. However, what is done is done, or in this case what wasn't done wasn't done. Nothing can change that fact so dwelling on what could have been has no impact on the here and now or the upcoming future. For all we know Thomas could have had the surgery done in February and returned successfully in game one and then blown out a knee on the first play.

I have just as much right to mention my opinion that moving on from events that cannot be changed is healthy as do those that have the right to dwell upon events that cannot be changed. Do I not?

You sure do have that right. But you treat other users like they don’t have the same right when you say their feelings about Thomas are not relevant or that what they care about is water under the bridge.

It IS water under the bridge. That is a fact. The definition of water under the bridge is referring to something that happened in the past and cannot be changed. Dwelling on those things is futile. Yet, I have never said that you or any other do not have the right to dwell on something that cannot be changed. I have simply pointed out the lack of logic behind doing so. Dwell away!
